President Kais Saied granted Tunisian lawmaker Ahmed Saidani a special pardon for Eid Al-Adha, and authorities released him on May 26. A Tunis court sentenced Saidani to eight months in prison on Feb. 19 under Article 86, in a case involving accusations of harming others through public telecommunications networks. Authorities said Saied pardoned 1,187 detainees and granted conditional release to 187 others as part of the same holiday clemency measure.
