NGOs Cut Ties with Libyan Coast Guard

Politics 12/11/2025

Thirteen European rescue NGOs have ended cooperation with Libya’s Coast Guard, accusing it of violence against migrants and breaches of international law. The coalition, including Sea-Watch, SOS Humanity, and Sea-Eye, launched the Justice Fleet alliance to document abuses and defend human rights at sea. The groups said EU-funded coordination with Libya and Italy enables these violations and urged the European Union to stop supporting Libyan maritime operations.
