Njuki Named as the CoG Vice Chair

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki was appointed the new vice chair of Kenya’s Council of Governors, replacing Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who resigned after public criticism of remarks he made following Raila Odinga’s death. Njuki previously served as CoG Chief Whip and chaired the health committee. Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi has now taken over the Chief Whip role. Kahiga said he stepped down to take responsibility for the controversy surrounding his statements.
