Gedion Timothewos Named COP32 Head

Ethiopia appointed Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos as President-Designate of COP32 after being selected to host the UN climate summit. The Office of the Prime Minister said he will begin coordinating preparations with national institutions, UNFCCC bodies, and international partners. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed thanked member states for their confidence in Ethiopia, noting the appointment reflects the country’s growing role in global climate diplomacy and its commitment to leading the conference’s organizational and negotiation processes.
