Nyaribo Survives Third Impeachment Bid

Kenya’s Senate rejected a third impeachment attempt against Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo after ruling that the county assembly failed to meet the constitutional voting threshold. Senators voted 38–4 to uphold preliminary objections raised by Nyaribo’s lawyers, who disputed the credibility of the assembly vote. Senate Speaker Amason Kingi said only 23 of 35 MCAs supported removal, which fell short of requirements. Nyaribo had denied charges including abuse of office and misuse of funds.
