Judiciary to Use E-Filing for Petitions

The Uganda Judiciary has introduced electronic filing for the 2026 Presidential Election Petition, marking the first time such submissions will use the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS). The system aims to streamline case handling, reduce logistical burdens, and address procedural bottlenecks observed in previous petitions. Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo opened a four-day Supreme Court training in Jinja City, emphasizing the Court’s constitutional role under Article 104 and preparing justices for timely, credible adjudication.
