Kenya Ports Authority confirmed the arrival of the country’s first liquefied natural gas-powered vessel at the Port of Mombasa. The Höegh Australis, which operates primarily on LNG, docked after an 11-day voyage from Singapore. KPA said LNG-powered ships reduce sulphur oxide, nitrogen oxide, and carbon dioxide emissions compared with conventional vessels. The docking highlights Mombasa’s growing capacity to handle next-generation, lower-emission ships under evolving global maritime standards.
