Lusaka Council Approves K1.15bn Budget

The Lusaka City Council approved a K1.15 billion budget for 2026, representing a 7% increase from 2025, driven by higher Constituency Development Fund allocations and updated property valuations. The council expected to raise more than K406 million in local revenue, supplemented by national support. Spending priorities included civic infrastructure, fire services, schools, libraries, and land acquisition for energy projects, burial sites, and community facilities.
