President Hassan Warns Somaliland

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud condemned actions by Somaliland authorities, warning they threaten Somalia’s unity and sovereignty. In a televised address, he accused the breakaway region of abandoning dialogue and pursuing foreign-backed recognition efforts, including a disputed agreement with Ethiopia. Mohamud said Somalia’s territorial integrity cannot be altered by external actors and urged renewed dialogue, stressing that lasting recognition can only emerge through a Somali-led political settlement.
