EACOP on Track for 2026 Completion

Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) reported that the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) reached 70% completion, with 946 km of welding done. TPDC Chairman Ombeni Sefue said the $5 billion project remains on track for July 2026, despite activist opposition. Over 200 Tanzanian companies hold contracts, creating 9,000 jobs. The project has generated TZS 70 billion in government revenue, built replacement homes, upgraded roads, and implemented water and health infrastructure along the pipeline corridor.
