EU Raises Concerns Over Uganda Polls
The European Union expressed concerns about Uganda’s general elections following President Yoweri Museveni’s re-election. It cited violence, intimidation, and limits on political space. The EU highlighted arbitrary arrests, an uneven campaign environment, and a nationwide internet shutdown. It also raised concerns about alleged assaults on opposition leader Bobi Wine and his family. The bloc urged restraint, called for protection of political actors, and said it will continue engaging with Ugandan authorities.
