Beef exports fell by around 51% in the first nine months of 2025, dropping to 9.5 million kilograms amid a national shortage of market-ready cattle. The Livestock and Livestock Products Board said low abattoir throughput limited volumes despite firm producer prices. Cattle marketing declined sharply, and live exports also fell. Europe remained the main destination, while shipments to Africa rose from a low base. Analysts warn the slump could weigh on economic growth.
