Libya’s eastern-based government rejected the newly announced “High Authority of Presidencies,” calling the Tripoli-backed initiative unconstitutional and warning it could deepen national division. In a formal statement, the administration led by Osama Hammad said only the House of Representatives has the authority to create sovereign bodies, urging the international community to withhold recognition of the new council. It warned that continued delays in holding national elections may push the eastern region toward demanding self-governance.
