Egypt Pledges Troops for AUSSOM

Egypt pledged full support for Somalia’s security and stability, committing to send troops to the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). The Egyptian Foreign Ministry praised Somalia’s efforts to enforce the rule of law and combat terrorism. Egypt recently signed a military cooperation protocol, delivered aid, and sent officials to Lower and Middle Shabelle. The first Egyptian contingent is expected to deploy soon under the AU mandate.
