The Ethiopian Minerals Corporation (EMC) signed an MoU with Sunbird Bioenergy Africa to expand Ethiopia’s renewable energy and biofuel production capacity. The partnership will develop an integrated bioenergy project producing bioethanol from cassava, with plans to scale into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). EMC CEO said the project aligns with Ethiopia’s green economic agenda and aims to boost energy security, reduce fuel imports, and create 120,000 jobs through large-scale cassava cultivation and biofuel processing.
