Mandera Governor Demands Jubaland Exit

Recent heavy clashes between Somalia’s Federal Government troops and Jubaland forces near the border town of Tuulo Aamin, Gedo region, have raised alarm in Kenya. On August 29, the Mandera County Governor, Mohamed Adan Khalif, demanded the immediate withdrawal of Jubaland forces after reports that they had entered Kenyan territory, including the occupation of a school, prompting displacement and school closures. Nairobi’s Defence Cabinet Secretary has not publicly responded.
