Kenya lawmaker Njeri Maina said she will not support a national budget that excludes funding for sanitary towels, calling them essential to girls’ education and dignity. Speaking in Kirinyaga County, Maina said inadequate allocations undermine school attendance and empowerment programs. She urged Parliament to adopt deliberate budgetary provisions for menstrual health and emphasized the centrality of youth and gender inclusion to national development and political accountability.
