Angola’s government submitted a draft law to Parliament that would criminalize the creation and spread of false information online. The proposal, first released for public consultation, includes penalties of four to ten years in prison for content deemed to threaten national security or undermine elections. Officials say the measure responds to growing digital risks, while civil society groups caution it could curb free expression and call for wider debate.
