President Postpones Parliament Opening

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud postponed the opening of Somalia’s 7th federal parliament session from Sept. 20 to Sept. 29. He cited Article 90 of the provisional constitution, which requires the president to open sessions and deliver a government address. Reports said some lawmakers were preparing motions against Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre, prompting further consultations between government leaders and legislators.
