Cabinet Passes Key Reform Bills
Somalia’s Cabinet approved several major political measures during its weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre. Ministers endorsed a landmark bill banning female genital mutilation and adopted the National Strategy for Women, Peace, and Security. They also ratified a cooperation agreement with Rwanda, the National Ports Strategy, and the IMSO Convention. Officials received briefings on drought response, with the prime minister directing agencies to accelerate emergency assistance amid rising humanitarian needs.
