UDA Refutes Gachagua’s Violence Claims

Kenya’s United Democratic Alliance dismissed Rigathi Gachagua’s claims of planned violence ahead of the Nov. 27 Mbeere North by-election. Secretary General Hassan Omar said Gachagua’s letter to the Inspector General alleging threats from UDA supporters was unfounded and aimed at seeking sympathy. Omar said the party’s campaigns have remained peaceful and cautioned Gachagua against linking its candidate to the claims. Gachagua has asked authorities to ensure his safety during upcoming rallies.
