Uganda received eight southern white rhinos from Munyawana Conservancy in South Africa to strengthen its national rhino recovery program. African Parks donated four males and four females to support breeding and genetic diversity. Officials from the tourism ministry and Uganda Wildlife Authority welcomed the animals, which moved to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for quarantine and monitoring. The addition brings Uganda’s rhino population to 59 and supports plans to expand the rhino range in protected areas.
