Somalia Backs UN Red Sea Security Vote
Somalia voted in favour of a United Nations Security Council resolution aimed at strengthening security in the Red Sea, a vital global trade route. Somali diplomats said maritime stability requires respect for coastal state sovereignty, adherence to international maritime law, and action on the root causes of insecurity. They urged locally led initiatives and stronger international cooperation to counter piracy, terrorism, and illegal trafficking affecting Somalia and global supply chains.
