UNESCO Promotes Ethiopia Tourism Growth

UNESCO Representative Rita Bissoonauth led diplomats to Harar Jugol as part of efforts to strengthen Ethiopia’s tourism economy and attract international investment. She said the country’s 13th World Heritage Sites offer significant revenue potential and can drive local job creation when adequately marketed and protected. UNESCO emphasized that improved global visibility and confidence in site safety are essential for boosting tourist arrivals, expanding tourism-related businesses, and increasing foreign-exchange earnings.
