Rubanga Cooperative Society hosted the Rubanga Coffee Business Forum on October 24, 2025, in Mitoma District to strengthen Uganda’s coffee sector. The event will bring together farmers, cooperatives, financial institutions, development partners, and private sector players to discuss access to finance, market expansion, and sustainable practices. Organized with ITC, NBS TV, aBi Development Ltd, and other partners, the forum aims to promote collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation, supporting smallholder farmers and enhancing Uganda’s global coffee competitiveness.

The Uganda–Qatar Business Forum in Doha strengthened efforts to expand trade and investment between the two countries. Hosted by KON Group and the Ugandan Embassy, the event brought together diplomats, business leaders, and investors to explore opportunities in energy, mining, technology, and innovation. Ugandan Ambassador Stephen Chemoiko Chebrot emphasized Uganda’s stable investment climate and young workforce, while Qatari representatives highlighted projects such as a $10 million animal waste recycling initiative.

Russia supplied Uganda with $53 million in military engineering equipment, including IMR-1 barrier vehicles based on Soviet T-55 tanks and GAZ-66 trucks with KUNGs. The Russian Embassy in Uganda released photos showing the equipment, which also included at least one transport boat. Officials from both Russia and Uganda attended a transfer ceremony on October 26. The report did not clarify whether the supply was a commercial sale or part of bilateral government support.

Nile Breweries Limited recognized Rwenzori farmers for their role in Uganda’s barley supply chain during a Fort Portal event. The company sources over 95% of brewing inputs locally and supports about 9,000 smallholder farmers through its Local Raw Materials program, providing seeds, training, and guaranteed markets. The event included awards, equipment distribution, and a “Seed to Sip” demonstration, highlighting farmers’ contributions to agro-industrialization and rural livelihoods under Uganda’s National Development Plan III.

Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) held a Business Connect Forum and Expo in Butembo from October 17–18, 2025, to strengthen trade and commerce between the two countries. The event brought together government officials, including Uganda’s Minister of State for Trade and DRC’s Minister of External Trade, alongside over 50 businesses showcasing products like agro-products, pharmaceuticals, and construction materials. Leaders discussed trade barriers, cross-border infrastructure projects, and initiatives to promote regional integration, peace, and economic growth.

Uganda is seeking Shs 8.2 trillion (about $2.1 billion) in new loans from the World Bank, Citibank, and Standard Chartered Bank to fund infrastructure and social projects, including oil roads in Ntoroko, Jinja City roads, power transmission lines, agricultural modernization, and refugee resettlement. The government is also negotiating a new Extended Credit Facility with the IMF to manage rising public debt, which reached $29.1 billion, or 52.1% of GDP, at the end of 2024.

The World Health Organization delivered medical equipment to Uganda’s Ministry of Health under the Diabetes and Cardiovascular (D-CARD) Africa Project. The donation includes blood pressure machines, glucometers, and ECG machines. Health officials will distribute the equipment to 40 primary health centers in Kabale, Koboko, Lira, and Sembabule. The project encourages integrating noncommunicable disease screening into primary care. It also supports Uganda’s goal of advancing universal health coverage.

The Ugandan government plans to integrate mental health and well-being into national workplace policies to promote safer and more productive environments. Commissioner Patrick Mugisha of the Ministry of Trade announced that the Ministry, in partnership with Mental Health Uganda and EcoBank, will develop a national standard for workplace mental health. The initiative includes a help desk for MSMEs and civil servants, sector-specific wellness strategies, and measures to reduce stigma and improve worker support.

President Yoweri Museveni announced plans to build Kidepo International Airport as part of broader efforts to boost Karamoja’s economy and tourism. Speaking in Moroto, he cited progress in peace, infrastructure, and social services, including new roads, electricity, and water projects. Museveni also highlighted improvements in education and health, the Four-Acre Model for increasing household income, and local industrial projects, including a major cement factory and expanded funding for the Parish Development Model.
