Tanzania’s exports of goods and services increased by 14.8% to $16.89 billion in the year ending August 2025, driven by higher earnings from gold, cereals, and tourism. Gold exports rose by 35.5% to $4.32 billion, while cereal exports doubled and tourist arrivals increased to over 2.28 million. The Bank of Tanzania attributes the growth to favorable global prices, stable inflation, improved credit to the private sector, and a strong external trade position.

Arusha hosted a three-day tourism summit that drew nearly 100 international travel agents and about 300 global stakeholders. The event aimed to promote Tanzania as a leading destination and strengthen its position in the global tourism market. Participants joined business forums, networking sessions, and site visits. Organizers said the summit is expected to boost investment, expand strategic partnerships, and support growth in the country’s tourism sector.

Air Tanzania launched a recruitment drive for 173 positions to support its international expansion under a five-year strategic plan. The airline seeks 68 pilots, 100 cabin crew, 20 with French or Chinese proficiency, and five ground staff. The hiring supports operations on new routes, including Guangzhou and Lagos, and follows recent fleet additions. This move aligns with efforts to boost Tanzania’s aviation sector amid safety concerns raised by the European Commission.

Tanzania’s gold exports reached a record $4.3 billion, up 35.5% from the previous year, driven by rising global prices and increased central bank purchases. The Bank of Tanzania reported that total goods and services exports reached $16.89 billion, representing a 14.8 % year-over-year increase. Exports of goods grew by 22.7 %, with strong performance from gold, manufactured products, cashew nuts, tobacco, and cereals. Cereal exports nearly doubled due to higher regional demand.

The Serengeti Business Angels Network (SBAN) launched two startups, Borderless and Ghala, to link Tanzanian entrepreneurs with local and diaspora investors. Borderless provides digital infrastructure for diaspora investment and cross-border payments, while Ghala offers an AI-powered commerce platform that allows small businesses to manage sales and inventory via WhatsApp. SBAN says both initiatives address structural challenges in Africa’s economy by providing capital, mentorship, and strategic support to high-impact startups.
