Tanga Cement raised TZS 203.74 billion through a fully subscribed rights issue, adding more than TZS 127 million new shares to the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange and marking Tanzania’s largest rights offer to date. Executives from the DSE and CMSA said the result demonstrates strong investor confidence and increased market capacity. The company plans to use the funds to strengthen its balance sheet, reduce debt, expand production, and support its long-term growth strategy.
Tanzania captured five major titles at the World Travel Awards 2025, led by its second consecutive win as the World’s Leading Safari Destination. Serengeti National Park earned the global title for leading national park, while Serengeti Balloon Safaris won the leading balloon ride operator award. Zanzibar secured Africa’s best corporate retreat destination, and Mafia Island’s Jumaira Thanda Resort claimed best private island resort. Officials said the results highlight Tanzania’s strong tourism and conservation efforts.
Air Tanzania will launch twice-weekly flights between Dar es Salaam and Cape Town on December 11 using an Airbus A220-300. The airline will run the outbound service as a triangular route with a stop in Victoria Falls, then return nonstop to Dar es Salaam. The new route supports peak-season travel and expands connections from Cape Town to destinations such as Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Lagos, and Guangzhou via Dar es Salaam.
The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) updated fuel prices across mainland Tanzania, lowering petrol and kerosene costs while raising diesel rates. Prices at Dar es Salaam Port fell to TZS 2,749/- per liter for petrol, TZS 2,653/- for kerosene, and rose to TZS 2,779/- for diesel, reflecting international market trends, import costs, and exchange rate changes. Tanga and Mtwara ports remained unchanged. EWURA requires stations to display prices, issue receipts, and comply with legal caps.
Tanzania Ports Authority and Africa Global Logistics agreed to design, build, and operate three new terminals at Bagamoyo Port, launching a multibillion-dollar expansion to ease congestion at Dar es Salaam and attract global investors. TPA said construction will start in January and form part of a $10 billion development that includes an industrial zone. The broader project will enhance cargo capacity, improve multimodal transportation, and position Tanzania as a key logistics hub in East Africa.
TISEZA introduced a new investment regime that streamlines approvals, strengthens incentives, and unifies Special Economic Zones to attract large-scale livestock and ranching projects. The authority aims to support commercial ranching, feed production, and value addition by offering tax benefits, clearer contracts, and improved aftercare. TISEZA also highlighted broader opportunities in crops, edible oils, and meat processing, noting Tanzania’s strong land resources, rising demand, and underused livestock capacity.
