Zambia has praised progress on the Golden Baobab Multi-Facility Economic Zone. It’s being hailed as a model for rural industrialization and a major driver of future investment. The company says the investment deepens Zambia–Sweden ties and boosts secure, modern connectivity. Science and Technology Minister Felix Mutati said partnerships like Ericsson’s are key to Zambia’s digital transformation, while Ericsson executives and Sweden’s ambassador framed the move as a long-term commitment to the country’s digital future.

Zambia has created an independent Minerals Regulation Commission, the country’s biggest mining governance overhaul in decades. The new regulator separates oversight from policymaking, centralizes mining compliance functions, and introduces specialized departments to support exploration, artisanal miners, and large-scale investors. The reforms aim to boost transparency, attract investment, and help Zambia meet ambitious copper-production targets. Regional offices and strengthened geological data systems are expected to cut delays and improve efficiency.

Zambia will receive a new five-year, USD 1.5 billion US health grant beginning in 2026 to advance HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis programs and strengthen surveillance and maternal and child health services. Officials say the pact aims to shift Zambia toward a more self-sustaining health system while preserving lab, data, and staffing gains built over two decades of US support. The EU’s EIB Global and Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank will jointly provide €30 million to expand financing for agricultural SMEs and strengthen Zambia’s value chains. The initiative supports smallholder-linked businesses, boosts private-sector growth, and reserves 30% of funds for women-led enterprises. It includes technical assistance, gender-focused lending improvements, and risk-sharing tools to expand credit access. The program aims to modernize Zambia’s agriculture sector and improve rural livelihoods.

Zambia has launched the distribution of Food Security Pack inputs in Pemba District, benefiting more than 1,500 farmers ahead of the 2025/2026 farming season. The district has received thousands of bags of fertilizer and seeds, with more inputs still expected. Officials urged beneficiaries not to sell the supplies, stressing they are meant to reduce poverty and strengthen food security. Selection was done through the FSP application system to avoid duplication with other support programs.
