The Czech Embassy in Nairobi has launched Shanga Trails, a multi-year cultural initiative celebrating historic and contemporary ties between Czech glassmaking and Kenyan beadwork. The event brought together artisans, designers, and cultural partners, showcasing collaborative fashion, craft demonstrations, and Czech–Kenyan artistic exchanges. Organised with Africa Centric Entertainment and Raj Ushanga, the programme aims to empower artisan communities, expand creative industries, and strengthen cultural diplomacy through exhibitions, product development, and public art installations.
Migori County is preparing to host the Piny Luo Cultural Festival from Dec. 14–16, with organizers expecting thousands of visitors. Local hotels and restaurants reported increased bookings and plan to showcase traditional dishes and lakeside activities. County officials said the event will promote Luo heritage while supporting tourism and small businesses. Stakeholders added that the festival offers a major opportunity for cultural exchange and local enterprise growth as Migori positions itself as a cultural destination.
