Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs, Wycliffe Oparanya, said he is ready to leave the Orange Democratic Movement if it helps unite the Western region. Speaking at the funeral of the late Cyrus Jirongo, Oparanya said regional unity would strengthen political influence ahead of 2027. Several leaders, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta, echoed calls for cohesion to shape future national leadership.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga dismissed claims that she plans to run as deputy president in Kenya’s 2027 elections. She said she will seek re-election as governor and continue serving as chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement. Wanga added that the party will make coalition decisions for 2027 collectively. Her remarks follow speculation linking her to President William Ruto.
